The closest airport to Darjeeling by air is Bagdogra Airport (IXB) in Siliguri. From there, it's a beautiful three to four-hour drive to Darjeeling. Travel to Bagdogra Airport to reach Gangtok, then take a shared taxi or reserve a private cab for the four to five hour ride.
By Rail
To reach Darjeeling by rail, the nearest station is New Jalpaiguri (NJP). From NJP, take the famous Darjeeling Himalayan Railway or a taxi for a 7-hour journey. For Gangtok, there's no direct rail link; travelers can reach NJP and continue by road, covering the approximately 4-5 hour drive to Gangtok.
By Road
Darjeeling and Gangtok are well connected by road. To reach Darjeeling, buses and taxis are available from Siliguri, approximately 3-4 hours away. For Gangtok, regular bus services and taxis operate from Siliguri and other nearby towns, covering the approximately 4-5 hour journey through scenic mountain roads.
